Late-night DUI Crackdown Tonight

Lisle Police will conduct a Roadside Safety Checkpoint on Ogden Avenue as the Fourth of July holiday weekend approaches.

The Lisle Police Department will be looking out for anyone driving under the influence Friday night along Ogden Avenue. The officers will focus on possible impaired drivers and other traffic safety concerns including seat belt violations. Traffic studies show late night hours in summer are the deadliest time for vehicle crashes that are alcohol-related. Studies show in the last five years between June and August in Illinois, 149 of the 253 fatalities between midnight and 3 a.m. involved a drinking driver.  Public Information Officer Ron Wilke said the program is primarily to educate drivers before the holidays come around when there are statistically more accidents.  "The educational part of that is to 'think before you drink,'" he said.  …

Police Blotter: Lisle Man Charged With Theft

Village of Lisle and Naperville police departments, June 15-16

FRIDAY, JUNE 15 Princess T. Austin, 21, of Bolingbrook, was charged with driving while her license is suspended on June 14 at 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Ogden Avenue and River Drive, according to Lisle police. She was released on bond. Brian Thomas Butler, 24, of the 5500 block of Lakeside Drive, was arrested at 10:39 a.m. at his residence, Naperville police said. He was charged with theft. His bail was set at $20,000. Butler is charged with two felony counts of theft for jewelry valued at more than $3,000 from his relatives' home, according to Naperville Sun.   SATURDAY, JUNE 16 Gerod Lee McClanahan, 38, of the 6000 block of Forest View Road, was arrested at 3:50 p.m. in the 800 block of East Ogden Avenue in Naperville, police said…

Lisle Board Members Recommend New Police Department Hires

The Department will add two patrol officers and two part-time positions.

Village of Lisle trustees recommended four additions to the Lisle Police Department, including two full-time patrol officers. The Department also requested the hire of two individuals to serve as a new Community Service Officer Unit. The officers would address some non-emergency calls, and parking and other village code violations, according to a proposal from Police Chief James Kosatka. Lisle Man Charged With Domestic Battery

The 27-year-old man is in DuPage County Jail.

  Quentin M. Epting, 27, of the 4500 block of Shabbona Lane, was charged with domestic battery and aggravated assault at approximately 12:12 a.m. June 13. Epting assaulted a family member, according to Lisle police. He was transferred to the DuPage County Jail.

Witnesses: Stolen Dealership Van Ran Red Lights to Evade Police During Chase

Three individuals were involved in the theft of a cargo van from a Lisle car dealership Wednesday morning. Patch readers provide accounts of the car chase that led police through Downers Grove.

Police are still looking for three suspects involved in the theft of a luxury cargo van that led Lisle police on a high-speed chase through parts of Lisle and Downers Grove Wednesday morning. Police say the suspects entered the lot at Bill Kay Chevrolet, 601 Ogden Ave., Lisle, as prospective buyers. Two of the individuals inspected a gold 2012 Chevrolet Express Van, when it is believed they obtained one of the van’s keys when they asked to start the vehicle. A third suspect got into the van and drove off when employees attempted to confront the driver. The car dealership is less than a quarter mile from Interstate 355. Stolen Lisle Dealership Van Leads to Car Chase

Lisle police pursued the vehicle through Downers Grove. Will County sheriff deputies found the van abandoned near Lemont Wednesday afternoon, but a search for the three suspects continues.

Suspects in the theft of a cargo van from a Lisle car dealership Wednesday morning are still at large, according to a Lisle Police Department news release. Bill Kay Chevrolet employees told the police that three individuals were on the lot around 10 a.m. as prospective buyers, when they obtained the key for a gold 2012 Chevrolet Express Van and drove off the lot, according to the release. The car is valued upwards of $59,000. Police said they were called to the dealership at 10:27 a.m. for a "suspicious incident," when they were notified that the van had been stolen. Employees told officers that two of the three individuals inspected the van and asked for the keys, and likely secured one without the salesperson's knowledge. When the …

I was passed by this van yesterday morning! I was westbound on 55th around Memorial Park when it sped by me and went into the eastbound lanes to pass cars that were in the left lane. I'm pretty sure it blew the stop light at Belmont, but it was long gone by the time I got there. Scared the bejesus out of me!   more ›

Police Blotter: Lisle Man Charged With Possession of Drug Equipment Following Noise Complaint

Village of Lisle Police Department, June 4

  Denzel A. Floyd, 18, of the 4300 block of Nutmeg Lane, was charged with possession of drug equipment after Lisle police officers investigated a noise complaint at the Arboretum Village Apartments early Sunday morning. Several individuals were gathered in one of the building's courtyards on Nutmeg Lane around 3 a.m., according to the complaint. Floyd ran from police officers when they spoke to the individuals. Officers located him hiding underneath a car in the complex's parking lot. Floyd was also charged with attempted obstruction of justice, resisting a police officer and illegal consumption of alcohol. He will appear in court on July 3.

Blotter: Warrant for Arrest, Driving While License Suspended

These items are from the Village of Lisle Police Department blotter on June 1.

  Driving while license suspended Daniel J. Peterek, 26, of the 5400 block of Burr Oak Road, was charged with driving while license suspended on May 27 at 1:24 a.m. at the intersection of Center and Maple avenues. He was released on bond.   Failure to appear warrant Hoseha Y. Hubbard, 39, of the 2000 block of Ogden Avenue, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on May 30 at approximately 12:23 p.m. at the intersection of Ogden and Yackley avenues. Lisle police officers responded to reports of a fight in progress, but discovered it was in fact a domestic dispute. Hubbard revealed to officers that he was wanted on an outstanding warrant in DeKalb County, and officers placed him under arrest. Hubbard was transferred to the DuPage …

Lisle Police Issue More Than 70 Seatbelt Citations With "Click It or Ticket" Efforts

Lisle Police conducted seat belt enforcement checks during the second half of May.

  The Lisle Police Department recently wrapped up their participation in the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Memorial Day “Click it or Ticket” seat belt enforcement/awareness campaign. Lisle police conducted six enforcement checks between May 14 and May 25. Officers issued 78 citations, 71 of which were issued for failure to wear a safety belt when required, according to a release from the department. Illinois Vehicle Code requires each driver and front seat passenger shall wear a properly fastened safety belt. Lisle police reported one impaired driving incident over the Memorial Day weekend. Lisle Police Change Records, Lobby Hours

The new hours, effective on June 4, will affect the lobby, reception desk, and records bureau.

  The Lisle Police Department will no longer be offering 24-hour records bureau services beginning in June. The new hours will also affect the reception desk and lobby. New hours will go into effect on June 4 are as follows: Due to numerous public safety and technological efficiencies gained through the Village’s consolidated dispatch partnership with DU-COMM, analysis of the public’s use of the Department’s Records/Reception service during the overnight and weekend hours, as well as the area trend of reducing business hours at Police Department facilities, the Department has decided to adjust its lobby business hours.
