Village-Wide Mosquito Spray Continues Friday Evening

In an effort to reduce mosquito-borne diseases, the Village began conducting village-wide mosquito sprays for the season. West Nile was detected in a mosquite last month.

West Nile made an early appearance in DuPage County in 2012, including a positivie mosquito sample in Lisle last month. The Village's mosquito control contractor, Clarke Mosquito Control, made its first run through the Village on June 8, and will be present again Friday evening.  Clarke utilizes an integrated pest management approach, including larval control, biological control and the strategic use of EPA labeled and registered pesticides for adult mosquito population control, according to the Village website. The company also monitors traps around the Village.   Receive phone notifications Call Clarke's Mosquito Hotline at 1-800-942-2555 for advanced notification of future sprayings.

Protect Your Family From West Nile Virus

West Nile Virus was found in mosquitoes in Lisle and neighboring communities in May. The DuPage County Health Department provides tips on preventing illness.

While summer's just begun, West Nile has already been detected in mosquitoes in Lisle and neighboring communities. The DuPage County Health Department has notified those communities. The Health Department does not spray for mosquitoes; mosquito prevention is done by municipalities or mosquito abatement districts. The positive mosquitoes are being reported earlier than usual this year due to the warm weather conditions, according to a release from the Health Department. West Nile Virus is weather dependent, so early positives were expected.  No human cases of West Nile Virus have been reported in DuPage County so far in 2012. Mosquito Samples Test Positive for West Nile

Samples from a handful of DuPage and Cook communities tested positive for the presence of West Nile, according to a Chicago Tribune report.

  While no human cases have been reported this year, the Illinois Department of Public Health recently detected West Nile in some DuPage County communities, according to Chicago Tribune. Positive samples were found in mosquitoes in Lisle, as well as Clarendon Hills, Hinsdale, Westmont, and Woodridge, according to the report. Read the full story.
