Lisle VFW Post 5696 Currently in Third Place in Contest, Votes Still Needed

Lisle VFW Post 5696 is one of four nonprofits competing for $25,000 in Foundation’s Aprons in Action Program. The winner will compete for an additional $250,000 in contest finale.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5696 in Lisle in The Home Depot Foundation’s second annual Aprons in Action Facebook contest. Voting runs through Nov. 30. To vote, click here. The organization that receives the most votes during the month will win the $25,000 prize to help fund an organizational or community improvement project. If VFW Post 5696 triumphs, they will then go up against 10 other finalists early next year for a chance to win $250,000 from The Home Depot Foundation. Post 5696 officials said the $25,000 from The Home Depot would allow them to make some long needed repairs to their facility and contribute to the construction of a Veterans Memorial in downtown Lisle. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5696 in Lisle is enlisting area residents to help the organization win a $25,000 The Home Depot gift card in November by voting daily in The Home Depot Foundation’s second annual Aprons in Action Facebook contest. Voting runs through Nov. 30, at www.facebook.com/homedepotfoundation. The organization that receives the most votes during the month will win the $25,000 prize to help fund an organizational or community improvement project, and will have the opportunity to compete for the grand prize of $250,000 at the end of the year-long program.
