Not All Attempted Thefts Pan Out

Here are three items from the Village of Lisle Police Department blotter on Mar. 29.

Theft from vehicle On the night of Mar. 24, an unknown person shattered the window of a car parked on the 4700 block of Hill Trail Drive and removed a GPS device from the vehicle. Car window smashed An unknown person shattered the window of a car parked in the driveway of a residence on the 600 block of Front Street on the night of Mar. 27. Nothing was indicated to have been stolen. The cash drawer was already empty Between 7 p.m. on Mar. 26 and 6:30 a.m. on Mar. 27, an unknown person shattered the front door of the Hair Cuttery (5328 Main St.). According to the report, the cash register had been pried open, but the owner indicated they did not keep cash in the drawer at night.

Theft from Vehicle: Stolen iPod, Parking Pass

Here's an item from the Village of Lisle Police Department blotter. It seems as if vehicle thefts are making their way to the southern half of the village.

Between 7-9 a.m. on Mar. 17, an unknown person entered a car parked in a lot at 5800 East Lake Drive and removed a resident access card for the parking garage. On the evening of Mar.17 an unknown person entered a vehicle parked in the garage of the Four Lakes Apartments (5800 block of Forest View Road) and removed an iPod and accessories, as well as a GPS unit.

Tires Stolen From Parked Car

An unknown person removed the rims and tires from a car parked in a lot at 3300 Ogden Ave between midnight on Feb. 13 and 8 a.m. on the morning of Feb. 14.

Local Burglary Booty: Cash, Copper and an Air Bag

These items are from the Village of Lisle Police Department blotter on Jan. 31.

Burglary from Motor Vehicle An unknown person broke the rear window of a car parked in the Bill Kay Chevrolet parking lot, 601 Ogden Ave., and removed the driver’s side airbag between Jan. 15 and Jan. 17. Retail Burglary An unknown person shattered the front glass door of a business located at 2950 Ogden Ave. and removed $150 from the cash register between 5 p.m. on Jan. 23 and 9 a.m. on Jan. 24. Home Burglary An unknown person entered a vacant home on the 800 block of McKenzie Station Drive and removed approximately 30 feet of copper piping from the basement between Jan. 15 and Jan. 25.

Residential Burglar Smashes Twenty Windows

Here's an item from the Village of Lisle Police Department blotter on Jan. 20.

An unknown person forced entry into a home on the 6000 block of Mill Bridge Drive and caused extensive damage to the home's interior, including damaging 20 windows with what police said appeared to be BB-like projectiles, punched holes in dryway, and broken staircase railings and skylights. The incident occured between 11 a.m. on Jan. 12 and 1:45 p.m. on Jan. 14.

Assist Lisle Police In Solving Arson Case

Here's an item from the Village of Lisle Police Department blotter on Jan. 20.

The Lisle Police Department is investigating two arson cases that occurred between 2-3 a.m. on Jan. 17 in the parking lot of 6016 East Lake Dr. An unknown person entered two parked vehicles and lit the interiors on fire. A third vehicle was entered and an unknown person removed a GPS systems. Anyone with information regarding these cases is asked to contact the department at 630-271-4200.

The Lisle Police Department offers tips to keep your car safe; Patch maps recent vehicle thefts.

In addition to the usual driving offenses (DUI, improper lane usage, driving while license suspended), one of the most frequent items on the Lisle Police blotter is also car-related: theft from vehicles. In the last four months there have been more than a dozen cases of electronics, money, hubcaps—and in one case, a hood—taken from parked (and often unlocked) vehicles. Check out the map on the right.
