Sandack (R-Downers Grove) withdrew his name from consideration Wednesday morning, citing his controversial decision to support same-sex marriage.
State Rep. Ron Sandack (R-Downers Grove) has formally pulled out of the race for the next chairman of the Illinois Republican Party. "After much contemplation and discussion with several Republican activists, I am withdrawing my name from consideration," Sandack said in a statement Wednesday morning. "Being nominated by my peers is a great honor and I will continue to work hard in representing the Republican Party in the 81st House District." The Chicago Sun-Times reported May 9 that Sandack was one of nine chairman finalists being considered by the Republican State Central Committee; of the nine, Sandack won the paper's informal reader poll with nearly 44 percent of the vote. Sandack would have likely been a controversial choice given his…

The Downers Grove Republican has significant support as the replacement for Pat Brady, according to a Chicago Sun-Times politics post.
Illinois state Rep. Ron Sandack (R-Downers Grove) is a top-tier candidate to become the next Illinois GOP Chairman and replace Pat Brady, who resigned last week, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. The Sun-Times lists Sandack as one of nine finalists considered by the Republican State Central Committee; of the nine, Sandack won the paper's informal reader poll with almost 44 percent of the vote. Sandack would likely be a controversial choice given that many believe Oberweis and other socially conservative Republicans ousted Brady over the former chairman's support of gay marriage—which Sandack also supports—the paper said. Major Illinois Republican player Ron Gidwitz is quoted in the article as being highly critical of anyone who pushed out …

Spotlighting the Rita Crundwell incident, in which $53 million was embezzled from a city’s coffers, the Downers Grove state senator is pushing for new transparency legislation.
Citing the Rida Crundwell case—in which a Dixon, Ill. comptroller embezzled about $53 million over 22 years from the city—State Sen. Ron Sandack (R-Downers Grove) is pushing for Illinois to pass his Taxpayer Accountability Transparency Act, which he says will help prevent further such abuses by opening local government to public scrutiny. “While most news outlets focused on the accused’s extravagant lifestyle and lavish hobbies, the more concerning story to me was how did this happen and how do we protect taxpayers in the future,” Sandack writes in a post on Reboot Illinois. “Transparency serves as a sort of disinfectant to graft, corruption and fraud. The more access the public has to information, the more responsible government will be…

By Amanda Luevano, Downers Grove Patch Two local legislators are introducing legislation that would require more transparency from local governments and taxing bodies. Last week, State Representatives Ron Sandack (R-Downers Grove) and Tom Cross (R-Oswego) introduced three initiatives with the goal of greater transparency and state and local government accountability to tax payers. “With all the well-documented fiscal problems Illinois faces, there are some easy things we can do to increase government transparency and save taxpayer money,” Sandack said in a news release. The goal of the legislation is to provide every property taxpayer with an annual itemized breakdown of the spending outlays they are billed for to support units of local …

Sen. Ron Sandack and Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno are among the Illinois legislators who applauded Gov. Pat Quinn for signing off to abolish the controversial General Assembly Scholarship program.
Local lawmakers applauded Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn on Wednesday for signing off on legislation to abolish the state's scandal-ridden legislative scholarship program. The adoption of House Bill 3810 ends 100 years of legislators being able to award deserving or undeserving college students with annual scholarships to state universities, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. The controversial program came under fire in recent years after legislators began misusing it, awarding scholarships to children of legislative employees and campaign donors instead of students in need of financial aid. Sen. Annazette Collins is the latest lawmaker to come under scrutiny for potential abuses of the program, according to Chicago Tribune. “There is no place for …

Current State Sen. Ron Sandack took 54 percent of the vote in Tuesday's primary election.
Ron Sandack won the Republican nomination for the 81st House District Tuesday night, defeating Debbie Boyle with 54 percent of the vote. No Democratic candidates were on the primary ballot, so Sandack will run unopposed in the November general election unless the Democrats appoint a candidate. Sandack currently serves as a state senator for the 21st district, having been appointed last fall to replace Dan Cronin, who was elected DuPage County Board Chairman. The 81st district is newly created and constitutes half of the previous 47th district. It includes parts of Downers Grove, Darien, Lisle, Woodridge, Westmont and Naperville. Patricia Bellock, who currently serves the 47th district, has decided not to run for the 81st, so there is no …

The mayors who have opted to endorse him include Roger Claar of Bolingbrook, Kathy Weaver of Darien, Joe Broda of Lisle, George Pradel of Naperville, William Rahn of Westmont, and William Murphy of Woodridge, according to a campaign press release. “I endorse Ron Sandack for our community because he knows what it will take to help us get the state out of our current financial crisis,” Murphy said. “Ron supports creating a lean, financially prudent and transparent government.” Sandack has sponsored legislation requiring fiscal notes to be placed on legislation so all citizens know how their hard earned tax dollars are being …
Sandack announced on Thursday five more endorsements he has received.
ABATE of Illinois, the Illinois State Rifle Association, the Illinois Center Right Coalition, the Tooling and Manufacturing Association and Family PAC have all endorsed Ron Sandack as state representative for the 81st House District. “Endorsements are informative to the voters because they indicate to the public that a candidate has substance and understands the important issues facing us today," Sandack said in a press release. "I am honored to have received many endorsements in my campaign to become the next representative for the 81st District, and I have worked hard for each and every one of them. Through my track record as Mayor of Downers Grove and in my short time as an appointed State Senator, I have proven to be unafraid to vote …

Sandack is a Republican candidate for Illinois' newly create 81st House District.
State Representative Michael Connelly (R—Lisle) endorsed Ron Sandack for State Representative in the 81st District Wednesday. “Sandack is a hard worker and long time leader for our community,” said Connelly in a press release. “Ron Sandack understands that government doesn’t create jobs but rather provides the environment to sustain job growth.” “This is the kind of person we need in this seat, someone who understands the importance of bringing jobs and businesses to the great people of our community," Connelly said. “Ron has worked hard to bring big businesses such as Dover Corporation and DeVry Inc. and other developments to Downers Grove. Ron is willing and able to champion the structural reforms needed to bring Illinois back to its …

"Few public officials walk the walk like Republican Sen. Ron Sandack," the Tribune reported.
The Chicago Tribune has endorsed Ron Sandack for the state representative of the 81st House District: "Few public officials walk the walk like Republican Sen. Ron Sandack, of Downers Grove," the Trib said. "Appointed in 2010, he has declined state pension and heath care benefits and refused to participate in the scandal-ridden legislative scholarship program. He gets high marks for his work ethic — he's famous for actually reading the bills — and he's not afraid to take the heat for an unpopular vote. Mapped into the same district as Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno, he decided to run for the House instead. He's endorsed over Deborah Boyle, a registered nurse and school board member from Downers Grove." Sandack began serving as a …

To assert the Constitution with its Bill of Rights (first 10 amendments) was written to protect the government and not,” We the People “, is not only a misreading and misunderstanding of history but the question must be asked whether the individual who raises it can read or understand English? Based on your continual assault of language are you the guy who parades with the George Bush Hitler …   more ›
