STYX to Perform at 2013 Ribfest

Chicago's very own classic rock band comes to Naperville Ribfest this summer.

The Exchange Club of Naperville and the 2013 Ribfest Committee announced that the classic rock band will be the opening act for the 2013 Ribfest on July 3 in Knoch Park.  Get news in your inbox. The 26th annual Ribfest runs from July 3 through 7 and will have plenty of family activities, live music and, of course, rib vendors from across the country. All proceeds from Ribfest go to support the elimination of Child Abuse and Domestic Violence, according to the Exchange Club of Naperville. Ribfest wouldn’t have its name if there weren’t a lot of ribs involved. Along with the food, however, the rides, games and musical acts, there is also a Business Expo not to be missed. Patch and will be represented at the Expo this weekend and we want to invite you to stop by and say hello. Lisle editor Karlie Baker will be milling around at Eyes to the Skies, but representatives from a number of area Patch communities will be on hand to talk with readers, answer questions and hand out some freebies. Take a break from Eyes to the Skies for some ribs!

It’s not a good time to be a pig. Ribfest kicks off Friday with 14 rib vendors ready to turn Porky into a delicious festival feasting experience. With warm and sunny weather forecasted for the weekend, officials with Ribfest are expecting large numbers of people will attend the four-day event. Julie Lichter, the 2011 Ribfest PR and Marketing Chair, said that the organization anticipates that between 200,000 and 300,000 people will attend the festival. “With four days of sunshine I really do think we could hit a good number,” she said. The Exchange Club of Naperville hosts the event every year. The organization is dedicated to community service, youth activities and is dedicated to ending child abuse and domestic violence.
