Dillard Gets Landslide Win Over Nybo in 24th Senate District Race

The district includes all or part of Clarendon Hills, Elmhurst, Glen Ellyn, Hinsdale, Lisle, Oak Brook, Western Springs, and Wheaton.

Updated at 11:05 p.m. State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) grabbed more than 60 percent of the vote and beat Rep. Chris Nybo (R-Lombard) for the Republican nomination in Illinois' 24th Senate District in Tuesday's General Primary.   The incumbent has served the 24th District since 1993. "I take this as a nice referendum on my leadership style," Dillard said over the phone after the win became official. "It shows that people understand results and want state legislators to work in collaboration without ever giving up their principles." With 100 percent of precincts reporting in both DuPage and Cook counties, Dillard had 19,145 total votes (62 percent) to Nybo's 11,928 (32 percent). Nybo, who has represented the state's 41st House District …

Mitt Romney Visits Wheaton Home on Primary Night

Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney attends a reception in his honor in Wheaton Tuesday night.

Mitt Romney stopped in Wheaton for an unpublicized private reception at a home in the 1400 block of Forest Avenue Tuesday night. Romney, awaiting the results of Illinois' Republican presidential primary, greeted children and other neighbors who gathered outside waving American flags and chanting “Mitt for President!” as he arrived. Neighbors said they received notice of the event earlier this week. Romney was scheduled to travel to Schaumburg for his Illinois election night party. We're on Facebook. Click here to like us! Patch reported earlier: Earlier in March, MyFoxChicago.com reported that Romney planned a fundraiser in Wheaton on primary day, March 20. According to the Wheaton College archives website, Romney wanted to hold a rally at…

Letter: Vote for Nybo is 'Vote for Change'

Chris Nybo can tackle hard issues and move Illinois away from its current unsustainable path.

For too long, politicians in Springfield have ignored fiscal realities and taken Illinois to the brink of financial ruin. Anything positive that has been accomplished pales in comparison to the financial neglect of our state. Politicians have focused on playing the game and protecting their turf, rather than serving Illinois and its citizens. Kirk Dillard has been in the Illinois Senate for nearly 20 years. Illinois needs a change, and as voters, we can make change happen. Chris Nybo is a hardworking parent who cares about his family and his state, as are I and many others. I met Chris after he rang my doorbell going to door-to-door to meet the voters. I believe he is a person who can tackle hard issues and take on the establishment to …

Dillard Endorsed by U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren

The freshman representative who once worked alongside Dillard in the state senate announced his endorsement in a release Wednesday morning.

U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-Ill.) has endorsed State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) in his 24th Senate District Republican Primary race against State Rep. Chris Nybo (R-Lombard). Hultgren, a Wheaton native and current Winfield resident who was first elected to represent Illinois' 14th Congressional District in 2010, said he supports Dillard based on his first-hand knowledge of the incumbent. "I had the opportunity to work closely with Senator Dillard in Springfield when I served as your Illinois State Senator," Hultgren said in a release Wednesday morning. "Kirk distinguishes himself from other General Assembly members with his skilled leadership qualities combined with his gift of working collaboratively with others." Hultgren also said …

Voicing Our Reproductive Rights: Mom Talk

The all-male House Oversight Committee meets to determine the future of women's reproductive rights.

Here’s an idea: In order to prevent pregnancy, let’s create a penis plug. I’ll get seven of my girlfriends together to design them. We can make them in different sizes, in a variety of fashion colors. We can have a carrying case for men to slip discreetly in their wallets. Whaddya think? That’s about as sensible as the eight stuffy old white men who are making decisions about women’s reproductive rights. Shame on the Republican majority House Oversight Committee for convening to discuss the Obama administration’s stance on birth control and health insurance—eight men and not a uterus among them. Moms, we need to have a voice concerning what is going on in Washington right now. No matter how we feel politically or religiously, we need to be…

Mark Kirk to Business Leaders: It's Time to 'Cherry-Pick' Best Ideas

Speaking at Tuesday's legislative breakfast, U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk offers short-term action to turn the economy around.

Before a crowd of hundreds of local business leaders on Tuesday morning, U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk offered his ideas to turn the economy around. The Illinois Republican was the guest of a dozen chambers of commerce, who organized Tuesday’s legislative breakfast at Pipers Banquets in Aurora. And though Kirk led off with some dire words about our current economic situation, he did come to the table with several ideas. Kirk has already introduced one of them, the Lincoln Legacy Infrastructure Development Act, in Congress. Co-authored with Republican Rep. Randy Hultgren, from Illinois’ 14th District, the bill removes roadblocks to public/private partnerships in the rail, highway and aviation industries. The idea, he said, is to get those projects …

Just what the country needs, more Capitalistic Socialism, in the form of providing tax money, for private concerns! If he thinks jobs are going to be created by "giving taxpayer money to corporations", think again! This has not happened, as they prefer to spend their money on emerging markets overseas, and will continue to do so, at the expense of the American labor market! It is time to bring …   more ›
