North Central Celebrates MLK Next Week with 'CSI' Actor, Gospel Extravaganza

North Central College is inviting community members in its celebration of the life and legacy of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. with a series of events and performances.

North Central College invites members of the community to join its annual celebration of the life and legacy of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. from Jan. 20 to 26 with a series of events and performances. King spoke in North Central College’s Pfeiffer Hall in 1960. This year’s celebration includes musical tributes, a prayer breakfast, the College’s 25th Gospel Extravaganza and a keynote presentation by actor, author and philanthropist Hill Harper. Harper’s talk, “Being an Active Architect of Your Own Life,” begins at 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, in the College’s Wentz Concert Hall at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. North Central College Installs First Electric Car Charging Station

New electric car charging station can be used by students, faculty, staff and visitors.

Like Lisle Patch on Facebook.  The college recently installed its first electric vehicle charging station, which is part of the college's ongoing effort to support and promote sustainability on campus. The charging station is located in the Old Main parking lot off Loomis Street and is currently available for use. The station can simultaneously charge two electric vehicles and can be used for free by any North Central College student, faculty or member as well as an approved campus visitor, according to North Central College.  "North Central is serious in its efforts to help reduce vehicle …

North Central Football Players Honored as 'Players of the Week'

Two North Central College football players were selected as Football Players of the Week by the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin.

North Central College football players have been selected as Football Players of the Week by the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin. Linebacker Joey Michals, senior, and kicker Nick Dace, junior, have been honored as Football Players of the Week on defense and special teams, respectively, for Sept. 10 through 16. The pair were selected for their roles in the Cardinals' 37-10 victory at the University of Wisconsin-Stout on Saturday, Sept. 15. Michals totaled a team-high 11 tackles, including seven solo stops, and two tackles for loss as the BlueDevils were limited to just 187 total yards of offense. Wisconsin-Stout gained just nine rushing yards, the fifth-lowest total ever by a North Central opponent. Dace was a perfect 3 for 3 on …

Student-Directed Drama 'Sin' Debuts at North Central College Sept. 27

Morality play will run for three nights.

North Central College presents the student-directed drama “Sin,” a modern-day morality play set in the aftermath of the 1989 San Francisco earthquake. “Sin” is a play written by Wendy MacLeod and set in San Francisco during the 1989 earthquake that ravaged the city. The catastrophe lays the frame for the show and tracks the growth of the main character, Avery. Throughout the show, Avery encounters each of the seven other characters, including her estranged husband, boss, roommate, and blind date, each of whom embody one of the seven deadly sins. Avery considers herself virtuous and morally higher than the others, but as the show progresses Avery finds she has to face the reality of sin. Three performances of “Sin” will be presented at 7:30…

Chicago Sinfonietta Opens its 25th Anniversary Season at North Central College

The Chicago Sinfonietta opens its 25th anniversary season Sept. 29 at North Central College with “Performance Art,” a concert featuring a unique collaboration with the Brooklyn-based, high-energy chamber ensemble PROJECT Trio. “PROJECT Trio combines flute, cello and bass to achieve musical colors that you would never have thought possible,” Sinfonietta Music Director Mei-Ann Chen said in a press release. “Not only do they bring a distinct sound, they also bring a lot of movement to the stage—so much energy!
