Police are searching for more information regarding shots being fired near a Naperville school Tuesday.
Naperville Police are investigating reports of shots being fired in the air near Madison Junior High School in east Naperville. The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Fairoak Road and River Oak Drives, west of the school, which is located at 1000 River Oak Dr. Police responded to the area after reports of shots being fired in the air from a white, late-model Chevrolet pickup truck, according to the Naperville Police Department. Police said several witnesses saw a white, younger male adult fire three shots in the air from a black handgun, according to the police department. A Naperville woman faces first-degree murder charges after the deaths of a 5-year-old girl and her 7-year-old son she had been babysitting, officials said.
A Naperville woman is being charged with stabbing to death her 7-year-old son and a 5-year-old girl she was babysitting Tuesday night, Naperville police said. First-degree murder charges were filed against Elzbieta Plackowska, 40, of Naperville by officials around 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to Naperville police. Police are questioning a "person of interest" after they were called to do a wellbeing check Tuesday night.
Two children were found stabbed to death Tuesday night during a wellbeing check at a townhouse on the 800 block of Quin Court in Naperville, police said. Police have a person of interest in custody and charges are possibly forthcoming, according to a media release. The Chicago Tribune reports that the women being questioned is the mother of one of the children and was babysitting the other. One child was 5-years-old and the other was 7 or 8, the Tribune reports. The woman is in her 40s, according to ABC 7. Two years ago today Extra Value Liquors was robbed of approximately $150,000 in cash and the owner is determined to bring the perpetrators to justice. Owner Basim A. Esmail continues to offer a $40,000 reward for the recovery of the cash and an additional $10,000 for the arrest and conviction of the armed robbers. Additionally Naperville Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the bandits. Esmail told Patch in an email the reward is being offered in part because of the large sum of money that was lost. “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign begins today and runs through Labor Day, police said.
When it comes to drinking and driving, the Naperville Police Department is warning drivers to "drive sober, or get pulled over." Beginning Friday, Aug. 17, police will be participating in a crack down through Labor Day in an effort to stop impaired driving as well as seat belt violations. Police plan to concentrate their enforcement during the nighttime hours. According to data from the Illinois Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the midnight to 3 a.m. timeframe is the deadliest time on Illinois roadways. Driving under the influence Anthony James Beavers, 23, of the 3000 block of Tangley Oaks Trail, was arrested at 4:05 a.m. near West Jefferson Avenue and South Main Street, Naperville Police said. He was charged with disobeying a stop sign, operating an uninsured vehicle and two counts of driving under the influence. His bond was $3,000. Police said Kevin Patrick Lynch, 31, of the 1600 block of Burlington Avenue, was arrested at 12:55 a.m. in the first block of East Chicago Avenue in Naperville. The recent arrest of a 17-year-old Naperville teen charged with dealing heroin, coupled with e-mails sent by Naperville district 203 and 204 as well as Lisle District 202, led to a massive turnout Monday night for a program about heroin’s grip on the area. A program is being held Monday at the 95th Street Library to address the use of heroin in the community.
More than a week after a Naperville teen was charged with dealing heroin, announcements went out Thursday to families in both Naperville School District 203 and Indian Prairie School District 204 about a program being held Monday to inform parents about the use of heroin in the community. Districts 203 and 204 sent the joint message to families in both districts requesting that parents be part of the conversation, the message said the focus of the meeting would be drugs in the community.
