Sixth Graders Explore the Middle Ages
Students from Lisle Junior High used literature and some more hands-on techniques to learn about the Medieval times.
from District 202 As part of an interdisciplinary unit on Medieval Times, Lisle Junior High sixth graders were able to take part in Medieval Performances on Monday, Feb. 6. Sixth graders have spent the past three weeks studying the Middle Ages in their Social Studies and Literature classes. The historical fiction novel, Catherine, Called Birdy has helped students to better understand this book set in the Middle Ages. Students began this experience in the auditorium to have the world of knights come alive. For an hour, students were able to learn more about the training of a knight, the weapons at their disposal, and a history of battles.
