2013 Election: Lisle Village, School, Park, Library and Township Races

Mayor Joe Broda is up for reelection in just one of more than a dozen races for open seats on local governing boards in the April 9 election. Learn more about the people who filed to run for positions as elected officials in Lisle.

The filing period for municipal elections ended Dec. 26 for the April 9 election. Here's who filed for open elected positions on local governing boards, according to DuPage County Election Commission documents. Brad Hettich Appointed to Lisle Village Board

He will serve out the remaining term of former Trustee Joe Schmitt, who passed away Dec. 7.

Editor's note: The following is a press release from the village of Lisle. During Monday's Village Board meeting, Brad Hettich was unanimously appointed to the Lisle Village Board. He will serve out the remaining term of former Trustee Joe Schmitt, who passed away Dec. 7. Hettich will be officially sworn in as trustee during the Jan. 7 Board Meeting to serve through April 2013. He will be running in the April election for a full four-year term beginning in May 2013. Hettich is president of Hettich Financing Solutions, Inc. dba Commercial Lending X, a Naperville-based business which provides financial consultation and lending solutions to a variety of businesses. Former Lisle Trustee Joe Schmitt Dies

Schmitt resigned from the Village Board due to health issues last month after nine years as trustee.

Former Lisle Trustee Joe Schmitt died Friday, after resigning from nine years of service on the Village Board early last month due to health issues which began in August. A 31-year resident of Lisle and 22-year veteran of the Air Force, Schmitt was first appointed to the Village Board in 2003, elected in 2005 and reelected in 2009. A village news release about Schmitt's death pointed to his dedicated service to his community and lasting impact on projects including the downtown redevelopment and creation of the Ogden Corridor Master Plan. Lisle Trustees Will Conduct Village Meetings By iPad

The paperless approach will save staff time on production and delivery.

Choosing a new electric supplier with renewable energy components isn’t the only way the Village of Lisle is working to reduce its carbon footprint. Trustees voted to go paperless Monday night, and will soon access meeting documents via iPad. Trustees approved the purchase of eight iPads, which will be issued to the village’s six trustees, Mayor Joe Broda, and Village Clerk Timothy Seeden. They will have the ability to download board packets through the Village’s website and make notations through apps. “There’s been a wave of local governments that have gone paperless,” said Administrative Services Director Eric Ertmoed. March 19, 2012 - the Mayor and Board passed the 2012-13 budget. No employee compensation data was posted online until 4 MONTHS later - not even close to 6 days. The law also requires certain info to be posted online BEFORE approval of the budget. Yet, the total compensation is still not posted for any employee. Where is the transparency? UPDATED: Village Hires Brokerage FIrm to Redevelop Downtown Properties

At Monday night's meeting trustees approved a contract with U.S. Equities to determine the best uses for their downtown properties and find potential developers.

How do you imagine downtown Lisle? After village trustees ended a stagnant agreement to develop the Old Village Hall site at 1040 Burlington Ave. last December, they began considering other methods of marketing their available downtown properties. Trustees met with the planning and zoning, and economic development commissions at the board’s January workshop meeting to evaluate their position on the village’s downtown master plan. The economic development commission is also in the midst of reworking its restaurant grant program. Trustees had conversations with two brokerage firms during closed session meetings earlier this year (the minutes have since been released to the public).
