The Lisle Library will hold the Job Searching Strategies, Part II class at 7 p.m. Monday, in Meeting Room B. The class will focus on the library’s newest resource, Job and Career Accelerator. Attendees do not need to have taken Job Searching Strategies Part I to register for this class. Patch keeps you current on upcoming deadlines with the new feature, "Last Chance."
Lisle Library’s Board of Trustees has extended the deadline for applications to fill the vacant trustee positions until Friday. To be considered, send a letter of interest and a resume to Board President Richard Flint, 777 Front St., Lisle, IL 60532. Any resident of the Lisle Library District may apply to be considered for a post. Board members serve without compensation and must be available for regular meetings generally held on Wednesday evenings.

My mom used to take us to the library every week when we were kids. Where I grew up in Minnesota, the nearest library was only open two days of the week for about six hours at a time. The children's section was very tiny. Yet every week we went, and we found some new book or author to entertain us. We loved books. Some kids seem naturally drawn to books, and others need more exposure to them before the love of literacy takes hold. Regardless of the group your child falls into, the research is clear: kids who read more (and are read to!) do better in school.
