Library to Host Part Two of Job Search Program Monday Night

The class will focus on the library’s newest resource, Job and Career Accelerator.

The Lisle Library will hold the Job Searching Strategies, Part II class at 7 p.m. Monday, in Meeting Room B. The class will focus on the library’s newest resource, Job and Career Accelerator. Attendees do not need to have taken Job Searching Strategies Part I to register for this class. Last Chance: Library’s Board of Trustee Applications Due Tomorrow

Patch keeps you current on upcoming deadlines with the new feature, "Last Chance."

Lisle Library’s Board of Trustees has extended the deadline for applications to fill the vacant trustee positions until Friday. To be considered, send a letter of interest and a resume to Board President Richard Flint, 777 Front St., Lisle, IL 60532. Any resident of the Lisle Library District may apply to be considered for a post. Board members serve without compensation and must be available for regular meetings generally held on Wednesday evenings.

My mom used to take us to the library every week when we were kids. Where I grew up in Minnesota, the nearest library was only open two days of the week for about six hours at a time. The children's section was very tiny. Yet every week we went, and we found some new book or author to entertain us. We loved books. Some kids seem naturally drawn to books, and others need more exposure to them before the love of literacy takes hold. Lisle High School Library Announces Student Art Contest Winners

These Halloween-themed projects were displayed last week in the school's library.

First place went to junior Jake Soukup, who submitted  two winning entries.  Freshman Kayla Storme was awarded second place, senior Stephanie Marciniak took third.  The winners received gift cards.

The semi-annual Irv and Kay Goldstein memorial book sale ends tomorrow.

What can you find at this week's library book sale? Well, everything you find at the library! The sale, sponsored by Friends of the Library, allows the library district to make room for new additions to its stacks while providing residents good reads at some very reasonable prices. Browse fiction, mystery, westerns, cookbooks, children's literature, romance, social science, humorous and non-fiction books in paper- and hardback, as well as DVD's, VHS and music tapes and CD's.
