Humane Society: Lisle's Puppy Parlor Pet Store Linked to Puppy Mills

A dozen Chicago-area pet stores were listed in an undercover investigation released Tuseday by the Puppy Mill Campaign for the Humane Society of the United States.

A dozen Chicago-area pet stores—including locations in Lisle, Downers Grove and Aurora—have been listed in a puppy mill investigation conducted by the Humane Society of the United States. Puppies Sold at Naperville, Downers Grove Pet Shops Diagnosed with Canine Distemper

The Humane Society of the United States said anyone who recently purchased a puppy that appears ill should check for distemper.

The Humane Society of the United States said it confirmed that two puppies recently purchased from a pet store with locations in Naperville and Downers Grove were diagnosed with distemper. In this particular case, a number of their puppies died from Distemper. The HSUS helped tremendously in one aspect - they got this story to go national. I do agree with you in one respect - donate to the smaller rescue groups or shelters. The HSUS does not need your …   more ›

Meet Enzo

Enzo, a 6.5-year-old male cat, is looking for a home.

Welcome to Adopt Me! It's our new weekly column, which will feature an animal available for adoption in the area. Lisle doesn't have its own animal shelter or humane society, so will will draw on nearby sites and online options. This week we're featuring Enzo, a 6.5-year-old male cat with white and black fur. Check out his listing on the West Suburban Humane Society's Web site here. Enzo is good with kids and other cats, but he's not a big fan of dogs. He has excellent litter box habits. He's also very food motivated and loves to eat. If you are interested in adopting Enzo, you can contact the West Suburban Humane Society at 630-960-9600 or www.WSHS-DG.org. The humane society is at 1901 Ogden Ave., Downers Grove.
