Interested in Chicago History? The Lisle Historical Society is sponsoring a free series of discussions with local authors that focus on different aspects of the city's past. The Chicago History Authors Series started Sept. 25 and will continue through December at the Museums at Lisle Station Park. Two sessions will run each Saturday at noon and 4 p.m. in the Baggage Room of the Depot. You can find a detailed description of each author's book on the Park District web site. Lithography, paintings, sketches and photographs are highlighted in campus buildings.
"Do I Not Entertain You?" asks Chris O'Connell's lithograph. This glowing, intricate print is one of several dynamic student works currently on display at Benedictine University. O'Connell and his fellow student artists depict a variety of subjects: flowers, plants, nudes, faces, and several more abstract, layered scenes. Lithography is a method of printmaking using a stone or metal plate that transfers a copy of an image onto a smooth surface. These pieces were completed in curator and instructor Teresa Parker's lithography course last spring. "I selected the works that are now on display," Parker explained.
