"Early was struck as the couple crossed Yackley Avenue during what appeared to be a break in traffic" Why was she walking across during a "break" in traffic? Seems to me like she was walking across traffic illegally anyways which would make her death less of the driver's fault and more so her own. As for the revenue going up, well I guess it couldn't get any lower. The vendors have left because …   more ›

Lisle Man Denies Charges in July Fatal Crash

James Kisla is accused of driving under influence of pain killers and alcohol.

A Lisle man pleaded not guilty Monday to charges he had a mix of alcohol and painkillers in his system at the time of a July 3 fatal collision with a pedestrian. James Kisla has been indicted on multiple counts of aggravated DUI alleging the combination of alcohol greater than the state limit of .08 and the drugs hydrocodone and dihydrocodeine "rendered him incapable of safely driving," court records show. Kisla was behind the wheel of a 2006 Dodge Caravan that struck Donna Early, of Naperville, near Yackley Avenue and Ohio Street around 10:15 p.m. on July 3, shortly after the village's Eyes to the Skies fireworks show, authorities have said. Early died several hours after being struck. Kisla's attorney, Donald Ramsell, has previously …

There was plenty of fun on the ground at the Eyes to the Skies festival in Lisle on Saturday. Local vendors offered some unique foods, as well as ribs as mouth watering as any at neighboring Naperville's Ribfest. Add your own festival photos here.

Special Committe Sponsoring Fourth of July Parade, Encourages Participation

The committee is working in conjunction with several village entities, including the Ross Bishop VFW and Eyes to the Skies Committee.

Organizers of the Eyes to the Skies festival have been clear while the event falls on Fourth of July weekend, they'd prefer to keep the focus on the ballooning aspect of the event. This year's festival closes with a fireworks display on July 3. A special committee will take on the task of hosting this year's Fourth of July Parade, to take place downtown on the 4th at 11 a.m. One of the event's organizers, Jack Kelly, made a brief presentation during last night's village board meeting. He said the affair will be uniquely Lisle (complete with a marching Lisle Community Band), and encourages families to make it out that day. They've also arranged "something a little bit extra" for the children, he said. Children ages 12 and under may bring …

Board Meeting Briefs: April 18

The board recognizes the LSHS Ecology Club, hears details on Eyes to the Skies and makes several re-appointments to village commissions.

Trustees recognized LSHS science instructor Becky Schwartz and the school’s Ecology Club for their efforts this year. The club raised nearly $400 through a partnership with Jewel to purchase two trees that will be planted on campus this week. This week they kicked off a gym shoe collection drive, which will later be converted to safety materials for playgrounds. Members said they are preparing to collect aluminum cans and plastic bottles for the Dream Machine Recycle Rally with PepsiCo. According to Mayor Joe Broda, the club has prevented more than 6,000 pounds of e-waste from going to landfills in their three years.   Brad Hettich made a presentation on behalf of the Eyes to the Skies committee. The committee is requesting the village’s …
