WINNERS: Your Favorite Places for a Cocktail (or Beer)

Patch shares readers' most popular local business choices.

Thanks to those who placed their vote for their favorite places for happy hour, weekend drinks, etc. The first day of voting started off pretty even, with equal showings of support for the Bavarian Lodge, Evviva!, Mullen's, and Country House. Some handy promotion on the Bavarian Lodge Facebook page led to a runaway victory for the top spot. One user said, "Great service, friendly and knowledeable staff, amazing food, and...duh...hundreds of rare and craft beers. This is a no-brainer!" Is it a surprise, when they were designated on of the top beer restaurants in the world last year? They aren't Lisle residents' only option, though. (In fact, from the poll results, there's hardly a place you don't like.) Evviva! and Country House Restaurant …

Eat, Donate and Be Merry

Join Evviva! Bar and Eatery At Evviva! Gives Back, to Benefit Toys for Tots and Central DuPage Hospital.

Saturday night Evviva! Bar and Eatery patrons can help owner Rob Salerno give back to the Central DuPage Hospital Foundation. Ten percent of profits will go to the CDH Foundation's pediatric fund, which contributes to services, programs and its facilities. This is the first time Salerno's business is working with the charity, but not his first experience with CDH. His son, born last December, was one month old when doctors found a hole in his heart. "He was already in congestive heart failure…. The facilities and staff in the pediatrics units at CDH were exceptional and in our minds what saved our son's life," Salerno said. According to the American Heart Association, one percent of newborns are affected by a heart defect. Salerno …

Evviva Releases Details of "Give Back" Night

Evviva will donate 10 percent of its proceeds to the Central DuPage Hospital, and other interesting Lisle-related items that hit the Internet today.

Evviva! Gives Back Evviva shared its plans for a charity night on Dec. 18. They're donating 10 percent of the night's proceeds to the Central DuPage Hospital. Snow at the Arboretum The Morton Arboretum shared photos of today's snowfall across the grounds. Student artwork at library The Lisle Library posted photos of artwork that Jefferson Junior High and Steeple Run schools contributed. Navistar and Hyatt Lisle new bites According to MarketWatch.com, Navistar was awarded a 2010 Community Service Award by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for encouraging employees to help out their communities during slow work months. Halloween activities start tonight around the village for old and young.

This week we've scrapped categories and divided the events by venue. Bavarian Lodge Thursday: Test G. Schneider in wooden gravity fed casks and several draft options at Schneider Cask and Keg Night. Creme de la Creme Friday: Attend the grand opening of this new decor and accessories store on Main Street from 10 am-6 pm. Evviva Saturday: Get signed in by 10 p.m. for your chance to win as much as $500 in their costume contest. French Market Saturday: Do you shop locally?
