Here is an item from the Village of Lisle Police Department blotter on March 19.

A 40-year-old Lisle man is headed to court after an incident with police on March 19. Police said Richard J. Nendza, of the 4900 block of Main Street, drove a vehicle that almost struck a squad car at about 10:38 p.m. The vehicle then continued north on Main Street from Route 53 at a high rate of speed. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and met with Nendza in the 4900 block of Main Street. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, battery (to a police officer) and resisting a police officer. He was also cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Lisle Police Set for St. Paddy's Weekend Crackdown

The Lisle Police Department urges motorists to safely celebrate this St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

The Lisle Police Department announced that it will conduct special patrols this St. Patrick’s Day weekend to crack down on drunk drivers. The patrols begin March 14 and run through March 17. Unbuckled motorists also will be ticketed. "If you plan on drinking alcohol, designate a sober driver before the party begins," Watch Commander Ron Wilke said. "Be responsible or risk a DUI. Too often, St. Patrick’s Day can be a deadly and dangerous time on our roadways because of drunk driving." In addition to looking for drunk drivers, Lisle police will step up seat belt enforcement, particularly at night when seat belt usage rates are lowest.
