The Dying Art of Conversation
When conversation is replaced by media, we lose the art of conversation.
"Reach out, reach out and touch someone...reach out and just say 'hi.'" This jingle had us all picking up our house phones to call family and friends. Today, the commercials are focused on '4G technology; faster, and less dropped calls.' When did we ever have a dropped call when we used a wall phone? There are days that I miss the long, coiled phone cord that I would stretch from the kitchen wall to the hall stairs. I would loop my fingers through nervously when that cute boy from History class called. The long conversations with girlfriends about who wore what, how get out of swim class or who smiled at us during lunch hour. Lost are the long conversations between teen friends. And not just because phones really don't have those nice long…
