Grounds For Hope Offers Solid Menu, Accommodating Atmosphere
This afternoon I visited the cafe, which opened in the village on Monday.
12:07 p.m.--much too late for breakfast, but who cares? I had been thinking of cinnamon rolls for approximately 13 hours, since I saw that they were available on the new Grounds for Hope Café's menu. I will confess: I have been hoping for a new favorite coffee shop since leaving Chicago. Logan Square's New Wave Coffee had everything I required in a hangout spot—free WiFi, chamomile tea, a "make yourself at home" atmosphere, free copies of Red Eye and the Onion, even video games. It's been difficult to find a suitable replacement. While the couches are outrageously comfortable at the Lisle Starbucks, I don't care for the pastries; the library is quiet and the orange chairs are large but there is no food; I get too distracted by the …

we had high hopes for a walk to cafe - and it could be a nice place to sit, gather, chat with friends... BUT - with the kids climbing area just adjacent - with no sound wall - it was NOT enjoyable wiht a dozen screaming kids climbing in the tower area... BAD design - look at any "play area" + cafe - like McD - the play area is walled off. Why would anyone want to go to the cafe and have the …   more ›
