Polish Fire Student Visits Lisle-Woodridge Fire District
The department hosts its first-ever foreign student for two days of technical training.
The Lisle-Woodridge Fire District hosted an international visitor last week. Sylwia Marcinkowska, a Polish fire protection student, spent two days training with Lisle-Woodridge firefighters as the department's first foreign student. A third-year student at the Main School of Fire Service in Warsaw, Marcinkowska is one of six students in her school to embark on the one-month exchange program. She will move through departments in Illinois including Bedford Park, Champaign, Chicago and Orland Park to study U.S. fire techniques through a mix of discussion, demonstration and hands-on training.
