State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) will serve as the assistant Senate Republican leader during the new session of the Illinois General Assembly, according to a release from Dillard's office. The 24th District senator, who said after his November re-election that he's mulling a second run for governor in 2014, was asked to be part of Republican leadership by Senate Republican leader Christine Radogno (R-Lemont), who cited Dillard's years as chief of staff to Gov. Jim Edgar and director of legislative affairs for Gov. State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) will serve another term in the Illinois Senate after a convincing win in Tuesday's General Election over Democratic candidate A. Ghani of Oak Brook in the race for Illinois' 24th State Senate District. Dillard won by getting 64,920 of 99,080 DuPage votes Tuesday from the 24th, which spans across the westerns suburbs and includes, among other towns, Clarendon Hills, Elmhurst, Glen Ellyn, Hinsdale, Lisle, Lombard, Oak Brook, Western Springs, Westmont and Wheaton. Dillard also had 2,429 of 3,209 Cook County votes, with all Cook precincts reporting. The Republican senator has represented the 24th since he was first elected in 1994. State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) is pondering another run for governor, according to a Daily Herald story published on Aug. 17. Dillard says his first priority is to get re-elected to his 24th Senate District seat in November—he's going up against Democrat A. Chris Nybo (R-Lombard) for the Republican nomination in Illinois' 24th Senate District in Tuesday's General Primary. The incumbent has served the 24th District since 1993. "I take this as a nice referendum on my leadership style," Dillard said over the phone after the win became official. For too long, politicians in Springfield have ignored fiscal realities and taken Illinois to the brink of financial ruin. Anything positive that has been accomplished pales in comparison to the financial neglect of our state. Politicians have focused on playing the game and protecting their turf, rather than serving Illinois and its citizens. Kirk Dillard has been in the Illinois Senate for nearly 20 years. Illinois needs a change, and as voters, we can make change happen. Chris Nybo is a hardworking parent who cares about his family and his state, as are I and many others. State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-24th, Westmont) has filed nominating petitions to be included on the ballot for the March 20 primary election. Senate candidates were required to file at least 1,000 signatures from qualified voters; Dillard filed 3,000 signatures. “I am pleased by the overwhelming support I received from over 100 volunteer supporters who helped me gather petition signatures, and I am further humbled and pleased that I was able to obtain many more than enough signatures to submit the maximum 3,000,” Dillard said. “The outpouring of support and enthusiasm from the people we talked with while gathering signatures was heartening.” An analysis of the petitions shows every community within Senate District 24 provided signatures. “…
