According to bureau chief Jim French, the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District serves a whole gamut of emergency and non-emergency needs. The department existed as the Lisle Fire Department upon its opening in the mid-1940s, then expanded to cover Woodridge in the 1960s. The fire district is rated a Class 1 fire district by the Insurance Services Office, which is the highest rating in the nation.

Today the district serves 70,000 residents on over 5,000 calls per year. Services have expanded to include medical services (including technical rescue), hazardous materials collection, fire and arson investigation, water rescue and monthly CPR classes. The department also conducts building fire code enforcement, inspections and reviews pending building plans for code compliance.

Station 4 is located off Green Trails Road and houses one 750-gallon engine and an ambulance. A list of its services, as well as tips on fire prevention, can be found on the district website.
