Weekend: 'Ready, Set, Go!' at the Lisle Library

Stuff going on in and around Lisle for the weekend of Aug. 17-18, 2013.

Here’s some of what’s going on in and around Lisle for Aug. 17-18:

·       The Lisle Library is hosting “one of our best events of the year” on Saturday with Ready, Set, Go! “Students, parents and lifelong learners are encouraged to stop by to learn about the many educational services and resources we offer in preparation for the new school year…There will be giveaways, a prize drawing, and you’ll have a chance to meet local educational administrators and teachers… Jump start your educational and professional life by exploring the Library. You won’t want to miss it!” It runs from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Library (777 Front Street, Lisle.) There’s also a special meeting of the Library Board of Trustees scheduled for Saturday at 10:00 a.m.

·       Naperville is hosting the School of Rock Summer Music Festival in Central Park (104 E. Benton Avenue, Naperville) on Saturday from noon to 9:00 p.m. This is a free, family friendly, all day music festival celebrating the end of summer while paying tribute to some of the best summer music festivals in rock music history. Join the students from School of Rock Naperville, Elmhurst and Hinsdale for nine separate shows throughout the day.

·       Saturday night, the band Platinum will be performing at Mullen’s Bar & Grill in Lisle (3080 Warrenville Rd. Lisle) from 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. on Sunday. The band “is an electrifying tribute to the greatest dance rock, hard rock and hair metal songs ever written.” No cover charge; stop on by!
