Lisle Resident Raising Money for Autism Foundation With Downtown Boutique

Eunice McConville, her sister Carolyn, and Creme de la Creme are teaming up for a shopping day on Sunday that benefits the Autism Society of Illinois.

Attention, downtown shoppers: two ladies have paired with to host a special afternoon of shopping on Sunday.

Eunice McConville and her sister, Carolyn Balbarin Hutchings, are hosting a shopping open house with a charitable twist: they'll be raising money for an Illinois support organization for autism. The ladies will donate $5 to the Autism Society of Illinois for every attendee, for up to $500. Creme de la Creme owner Pat Smith will also be donating 10 percent of pre-tax proceeds from the afternoon to the organization.

The Autism Society is an organization close to McConville's heart, whose son was diagnosed with autism.

"So many more kids are being diagnosed with autism and we need services and support for families," she said. "It's a tough road, a tough start."

McConville said she generally only encounters other families with autistic children through her son's school, but finds the programs through the Autism Society valuable as a parent. She wants to continue to spread awareness of autism, and do what she can to assist these support groups.

She added that it seemed like a natural opportunity promote one of their favorite stores.

"It really is a gem in Lisle. There are so many unique things you can find there and we wanted to share our enthusiasm with her store," she said.
