Kiwanis, Friends of Lisle Township Provide 98 Thanksgiving Meals for Families in Need

The , along with Friends for Lisle Township and an anonymous donor, provided 98 Thanksgiving food baskets consisting of a 15-pound turkey and all the trimmings with a local grocery gift card to Lisle Township families on Tuesday, Nov. 22.  These families are local people who at this time are facing economic hardship and felt blessed to receive the food.  The Kiwanis Club of Lisle has been providing Thanksgiving food baskets to the needy for more than 20 years.

The Kiwanis Club of Lisle has been active since its founding in 1962.  While the principal spirit of the club is to provide assistance to youth, it also provides other philanthropic services to the community where needs appear including the Senior Citizens picnic and aid to the needy.  The Kiwanis is the sole sponsor of the 's "Key Club" and it assists the in its recognition of student achievements.   The club thanks all of the community for its assistance in fundraising at pancake day, peanut day, Eyes to the Skies, and other events.  The club meeting is held weekly on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm in the .
