Weather Alert: Know Where to Find Cooling Centers During Heat Advisory

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory and air quality alert for Thursday.

You may already be feeling the heat, but temperatures are expected to climb near or above 100 degrees on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

"Increasing humidity... will make it feel even hotter... with heat index values climbing to the 105 to 110-degree range," the NWS says. An emerging cool front may produce some isolated thunderstorms this evening.

An air quality alert is also in effect.

Both advisories remain in effect until 8 p.m. Thursday evening. Temperatures are expected to remain in the 90s through the weekend, according to the advisory.

As temperatures regularly climb above 90 degrees, be sure to take precautions against heat related illnesses.

Those in need of relief from the heat may go to:

Should these centers fill, DuPage County may opt to open  as an emergency cooling center.
