Storms Delay Start of Sunday Eyes to the Skies Festivities

A storm causing damage around the area delayed the start of the Lisle festival's final day. Balloons are expected to inflate around 6 p.m. this evening, but launches and fireworks are dependent on weather.

Eyes to the Skies festivities, regularly scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., were forced into a delayed start due to severe weather rolling through DuPage County.

The storm rolled through Chicagoland shortly before 1 p.m., producing high winds and hail in some areas. Patch editors in St. Charles, Batavia, Glen Ellyn, and Wheaton are reporting downed power lines and trees in the aftermath.

Lisle and Naperville-area residents, however, seemed to come out relatively unscathed. Less than five Lisle residents are affected by area outages, according to ComEd's latest outage map update.

A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 7 p.m. this evening, according to the National Weather Service. Weather.com forecasts a 30- to 40-percent chance of scattered thunderstorms starting at 8 p.m. this evening.

Eyes to the Skies activies, including a performance by Wedding Banned, are expected to go on as scheduled.
