WATCH: Lisle Man Wins Martial Arts U.S. Open in Weapons, Men's Forms

27-year-old Sen Gao took home two victories while representing Illinois at the 40th annual US Open ISKA World Martial Arts Championship in Florida.

Sen Gao, a 27-year-old Lisle resident who immigrated to the Village from China two years ago, has been named the champion of the US Open ISKA World Martial Arts Championship in both the weapons and the men's forms categories.

You can watch his incredible weapons routine above, involving a pair of rapidly flailing chain whips and set to—what else?—Carl Douglas' "Kung Fu Fighting." (The 40th annual contest took place on July 5 and 6 at Coronado Springs Resort in Florida.)

"He got media attention because he brought high level Chinese martial arts to a stage that was dominated by karate competitors," his wife Jing Lin wrote in an e-mail to Patch. "He also has a strong personality, and the crowds love him."

Gao also trains in right here in Lisle, Lin said.

His performances even aired on ESPN3,and YouTube has many more videos of his routines. His winning forms routine can be seen here.
