Lisle Soccer Shuts Down Sandwich

Lions improve to 9-3 with an impressive win over conference foes.

If the Sandwich Indians didn't know Alhaji Kamara before today’s game, they are not going to forget him soon.  Kamara kick-started the Lion offense and scored Lisle’s first three goals, leading the Lions to a 7-0 shutout over conference foe Sandwich.

“24 (Kamara) had a great game – he came out and was able to be in front of the net and get his shots in,” said Lion coach Kevin Perez.  “This was a good game for him – a confidence boost.”

Team captain Patrick Webb played no small part in the victory, assisting on Kamara’s first three goals (Kamara would later score a fourth), adding one of his own.

There was no shortage of praise from Coach Perez about the Lions' effort Tuesday afternoon.  Offensively, everything seemed to click and the Lions poured shot after shot at the goal.

“Guys were in the right positions and capitalized on the situations,” Perez said.

Defensively, the Lions seemed to beat the Indians to every ball, and Sandwich had few scoring opportunities.

With the win, the Lions improved to 9-3 overall, 5-2 in conference.

Next up for the Lions is the AAA tournament at Glenbrook.

“It is a chance for us to pick our game up – to play against the big teams,” stated Perez.  “My goal is to pick up a few wins this weekend and pick up our pace for the last half of the season.”
