Lisle Girls’ Basketball Coach Murray Headed to Marian Catholic

The Lisle coach will inherit the defending 4A Illinois state champion Spartans team after three years coaching the Lions.

After three years coaching girls basketball for the Lisle Senior High School Lions, Dan Murray has been tapped to become the new coach for the defending 4A Illinois state champion Marian Catholic Spartans, the Suburban Life reports.

According to the paper, outgoing Spartans coach Annie Byrne left the program to direct operations at Bourbonnais’ Legends Sportsplex; the program, which the NWI Times calls “one of the top girls programs in the state,” has won the last 13 straight regional titles.

"I am honored to be the coach at Marian," Murray told the paper. "It is a great program and I want to continue that tradition… [It] is is a challenge because we had no summer together, [but] I will have to do a little homework and see what works and I am not going to try and change things."
