White Sox Tim Buzard to Speak on Lessons Learned in Baseball

Tim Buzard, the man who brought the Chicago Bulls/Chicago White Sox Training Academy to Lisle, will talk about “Lessons I have learned in 30 years in Baseball” at the Lisle Area Chamber’s General Luncheon and Annual Meeting on Thursday, December 15, 11:30 am – 1:30 pm, Hilton Lisle/Naperville, 3003 Corporate West, Lisle.

The Chamber will also honor the 2011 Board members and Committee chairs and install the new 2012 Board members at the Annual Meeting, which is open to the public. Tickets are $25 for members, $35 non-members.

Tim Buzard has been involved with the Bulls/Sox Training Academy since its beginning and worked closely with the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce and its president Tom Althoff to bring it to Lisle.

Buzard explained that the White Sox’s Summer Camps were so successful that the club wanted to open a year-round youth player development facility. The Training Academy, which opened in 2001, was the first one in the country owned and operated by a professional team (two teams in their case). The popular state-of-the-art facility offers professional baseball, softball and basketball instruction to kids of all ages up to and including professional athletes.

After joining the White Sox in 1981, Buzard served as controller for five years, as vice president of finance for 12 and as vice president of administration and finance for six. He was promoted to senior vice president in 2004.

To hear Tim Buzard talk about his lessons learn and honor Chamber board members, call the Lisle Area Chamber at 630-964-0052 or e-mail info@lislechamber.com to reserve your seat. Luncheon is $25 for members, $35 non-members.
