• Traditional yoga poses are adapted to help you create
space for your growing baby, build strength in your body
and maintain flexibility in your joints - at a pace and
intensity appropriate for the expectant woman.
• Guided breathing practices reduce stress, quiet the mind,
and help you focus and concentrate.
Prenatal yoga is proven to counteract fatigue, relieve pain
in joints and low back, and maintain balance in the nervous
system. Yoga also is beneficial for delivery and postdelivery.
Students new to yoga and experienced yoga practitioners
are welcome. Your physician’s approval to participate in
yoga is recommended.
Therese Carlson, RN, 200 CYT, is a registered nurse and yoga teacher. In addition to 200-hour certification, Intermediate Teacher Training and therapeutic study through Prairie Yoga Teacher Training, she completed Prenatal Yoga Training through Global Yoga Center in Chicago.
