Summer Baseball Featuring College-age Players Starts in Lisle as Hounds Begin Inaugural Season

Hey, baseball fans: There's a new wood-bat team in DuPage County, featuring college-age players.

The DuPage County Hounds kick off their first season in the Midwest Collegiate League this June. They will play their home games at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex at in Lisle. The 28-man roster includes local players from Patch towns such as Darien, Downers Grove, Lemont, Lisle and Western Springs.

Patch is proud to sponsor on Sunday, June 3. Patch readers are invited to redeem four free tickets to the 5 p.m. game against the Rockford Foresters. You'll have a chance to meet local editors from Patch's DuPage County sites, and more importantly, catch the new team in action!

Simply choose a seating section and type in the code 'PATCH' to reserve your tickets.

Patch is also sponsoring the Hounds’ bat boy or girl at this season's home games. These little sluggers will receive a Patch baseball hat, and get to wear an official jersey supplied by the Hounds during the game.

Participants must be 8-12 years of age and a resident of DuPage County. To enter:

1. Create a Patch account using your full name and a valid email address for contact.

2. Click "Upload photos and videos" on the gallery and add your child’s photo. Captions must include your child’s first name and age.

The first 24 entrants will be selected. Parents will be contacted with their assigned game day via email.

About the DuPage Hounds
Collegiate League members are 18-22 years old. Many have some college or junior college experience. Players are not paid for their participation.

The team will play a 56-game season. Other members of the Midwest Collegiate League include the Chicago Zephyrs, Dekalb County Liners, Illinois Lincolns, Northwest Indiana Oilmen, Rockford Foresters, Southland Vikings, and Will County CrackerJacks.
