LSHS kisses Kate, and Benet Academy travels to Oklahoma.

Looking for some local theatrical talent? Students at Lisle Senior High School and Benet Academy are busy preparing for their spring musical productions.

Lisle Senior High School kicks off "Kiss Me Kate" on Thursday evening.

“When I begin the process of choosing a show I look at underclassmen from past musicals whose abilities I'm aware of.  I choose a show knowing that I have students who could fill the roles.  Then, I'm always wonderfully surprised when new kids come in and raise the bar.  This year I have not only really talented sophomores, juniors and seniors, but a couple of new kids to our school and an unbelievable freshman class.  ... I have really good, strong singers and actors and with this play also involving the language of Shakespeare it is no easy task.  The rhythm and word usage of that language is so unfamiliar to the kids and we've worked on making it understandable to them," said director Pat Kerback.

"For a small school we have a tremendous talent pool not only in terms of the cast, but also the pit band and the crews.  The kids who head my crews are imaginative, responsible, and work just as hard as the cast to ensure we have a good show.  I can always count on them to get the job done right," she added.

See "Kiss Me Kate" in the high school's auditorium on March 17 at 7 p.m., or March 18 or 19 at 8 p.m.
