School District Brief: 202 Superintendent Retiring At Close of 2011-2012 School Year

The board approved Dr. Patricia Wernet's request to retire at this week's regular meeting.

Monday night the District 202 Board of Education approved a retirement request from superintendent Dr. Patricia Wernet. Her retirement will go into effect at the end of June 2012.

Wernet issued a statement on the district website.

"I am sad to leave this district where the school board members are focused on what is best for children and the individuals who work for District 202 are the most dedicated, hard working, intelligent, and caring staff with whom I have had the privilege to know and work.  However, I know, because of that dedication, the work will continue," it reads.

According to a message from the board of education, the district will be conducting a community survey at the beginning of the school year "to develop a profile of desired leadership characteristics." Wernet's replacement is expected to be announced by mid-January.

LSHS secretary Gretchen Cimaglio was appointed the district's new administrative coordinator at the meeting.
