Lisle Student Chosen to Present at National Research Conference

The North Central College is among 45 students to attend this year's National Conference of Undergraduate Research.

For the third consecutive year, a record number of students from North Central College will participate in the nation’s leading conference on undergraduate research.

Senior Randi Purcell of Lisle, is among the 45 students who will represent North Central at the annual National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) March 29-31 at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. No other college or university in Illinois will send more students to this prestigious conference.

Purcell is majoring in psychology and will present an oral presentation titled “The Effect of Hypocrisy on Intentions to Advocate Against Texting While Driving.”

The 45 students will present 34 different proposals; some proposals have more than one presenter, and three students will present two different research projects. Of those 45 students, 19 are part of North Central’s College Scholars Honor Program and nine of the research projects were funded by a Richter Independent Study Fellowship grant by the College.

The National Conference on Undergraduate Research is dedicated to promoting undergraduate research, scholarship and creative activity in all fields of study. This annual gathering welcomes more than 2,500 scholars and their faculty mentors from all institutions of higher learning in the United States.
