District 203 Names Interim Superintendent Candidate

Board of Education will vote to appoint Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education Dan Bridges on April 16.

has announced plans to appoint Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education Dan Bridges as interim superintendent.

Board of Education members are set to vote on whether or not to approve the appointment at the next board meeting on Monday, April 16.

Current Superintendent Mark Mitrovich announced his resignation on March 19 after serving the district for three years. Mitrovich's resignation is effective July 1, 2012 and he will work with Bridges during the transition.

Bridges joined District 203 in July 2011 after serving West Aurora School District 129 as principal at the elementary, junior high and high school levels and district athletic director as well as other leadership positions. 

“Dan Bridges has the experience, education and demonstrated leadership necessary to assume this role,” said Board of Education President Mike Jaensch in a press release. “He has devoted his career to the development of caring, effective and high performing schools and successfully created strong learning communities.”

Bridges has a Bachelors degree in History and Secondary Education from Millikin University, a Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Aurora University, and an Ed.S. in Educational Administration from NIU. He is also in the process of completing his doctorate in Educational Administration from Northern Illinois University and holds an endorsement for superintendent from the State of Illinois. “My attention this next year will be on collaborating with parents and the community, building relationships and identifying goals and needs in order to continue providing the best educational opportunities for our students,” said Bridges in a press release.
