and Rasmussen College have both served adult students for many years. The latest initiative by the two schools will provide adult students with greater access to the best of both institutions.

Benedictine University announced a partnership with Rasmussen College to begin offering its Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) program at Rasmussen’s Aurora location. This new cooperative effort will help Benedictine University provide more convenient educational offerings to students across northern Illinois, while Rasmussen students who complete their undergraduate degree will be able to seamlessly transition into Benedictine’s M.B.A. program.

“Over the years, students have found their way to Benedictine University through many paths,” said Benedictine University President William J. Carroll, Ph.D. “Among those private institutions that have been around for many years and are known for their quality, Rasmussen has specialized in serving the adult population – a population that Benedictine also serves. Through our partnership, students will have access to the best of both institutions.”

“Both Rasmussen College and Benedictine University share a long-standing tradition of creating innovative solutions that will help our students be more successful in their academic careers; this partnership is another example of that creative thinking,” said Rasmussen College President, Kristi Waite. “Our students will now be closely exposed to graduate-level course instruction that may positively influence their decision to further their education. For Benedictine students, this partnership provides local students the option of focusing on their studies within their local community. Together, we are creating a thriving academic environment for students of different disciplines and we could not be more pleased.”

The Benedictine University M.B.A. is a 64 quarter credit-hour program. It is designed to meet the growing global need for knowledgeable, principle-centered leadership of organizations. Intended to prepare managers as both economic and ethical leaders, the M.B.A. program emphasizes a comprehensive integration and application of business knowledge.

The M.B.A. program highlights the acquisition of technical management skills within a peer group or management team context. Written problem analysis is required throughout the program, as is the development of presentation skills. The M.B.A. program focuses on skill development in the areas of strategic management, analytic tools, managerial economics and managerial accounting, international business, and marketing management.

The instructors in the M.B.A. courses provide extensive real world education for real world application. Instructors focus on providing theory coupled with practical applications that students can put to use immediately. Instructional methods include lectures, seminars, workshop activities, simulations and business case studies. Each class forms study groups to assist in the learning process.

The M.B.A. program operates on the learning team model. All students in the learning team start the program at the same time. All students take each course in the curriculum in sequence; this eliminates the need for students to scramble for required courses. Most of the courses are completed in six weeks with class meetings one night per week for four hours.

“These types of partnerships are instrumental in meeting the educational needs of all of our communities,” Waite said. “If more colleges and universities would partner together to develop custom solutions to meet market demand, it’s amazing to think about what could be accomplished.”
