Lisle FEMA Pre-Application

It's been 106 days since the April 18th flood that devastated so many Lisle residents.  The Village of Lisle promised at the last Special Workshop Board Meeting that they would be submitting a pro-application for FEMA mitigation grant funds.  They promised to apply for 102 property acquisitions and 25 elevation projects.  Today, the VOL posted the application submitted just days ago.  It states that there are 42 homes with substantial damage in Lisle due o the flood (over 50% of the home value damaged--not including land value) in addition to 2 homes due to the cumulative to 1992 Lisle ordinance.  .  The federal cost of the project is listed at over $20 million and the matching funds are listed at near $7 million.  The project total comes to just over $27 million.

At the last Special Workshop meeting, it was discussed at length how Lisle needs to aim high at this time knowing that we will most likely not be approved to move forward with the full grant.  This pre-application, it was explained, should be approved or denied in about 4-6 weeks.  The full grant project could take up to 2 years.  Take a few minutes to read the 8 page application.
