Where Do Lisle Residents Fall On New Congressional Map?

The new map was signed into law last Friday, despite criticism from several Republican legislators.

Gov. Pat Quinn signed the new congressional district map into law last Friday, which has drawn criticism over the last several weeks over its Democratic influence. According to the Chicago Tribune, a group of Republican legislators are looking to challenge the map in court.

Under the new congressional map, the village’s mostly cohesive district will be split into two portions, as will Naperville and Downers Grove.

The New 11th District
Residents living south of the Metra line and east of Yackley Avenue/College Road would belong to the new 11th Congressional District.

Prior to the approval of the new districts, former U.S. congressman Bill Foster announced he would in the district, which will also represent Bolingbrook, Darien, Naperville and Woodridge. Foster’s hometown of Batavia remains in the 14th Congressional District, which he lost last year to Republican Randy Hultgren.

6th District

Those living north of the Metra tracks will belong to the 6th Congressional District, along with Glen Ellyn and Wheaton.

The majority of the Lisle currently falls into the 13th Congressional District, which Hinsdale Republican Rep. Judy Biggert oversees, as well as senators Kirk Dillard and Richard Durbin.

The current district ends directly north of Pebble Creek Drive.
