Special Committe Sponsoring Fourth of July Parade, Encourages Participation

The committee is working in conjunction with several village entities, including the Ross Bishop VFW and Eyes to the Skies Committee.

Organizers of the Eyes to the Skies festival have been clear while the event falls on Fourth of July weekend, they'd prefer to keep the focus on the ballooning aspect of the event. This year's festival closes with a fireworks display on July 3.

A special committee will take on the task of hosting this year's Fourth of July Parade, to take place downtown on the 4th at 11 a.m.

One of the event's organizers, Jack Kelly, made a brief presentation during last night's village board meeting. He said the affair will be uniquely Lisle (complete with a marching Lisle Community Band), and encourages families to make it out that day. They've also arranged "something a little bit extra" for the children, he said.

Children ages 12 and under may bring their decorated bike to the event; prior to the parade, they'll award three top prizes (which are being kept under wraps at this point, said Kelly), as well as certificates for free ice cream at The Nook for all participants.

The event is being sponsored in cooperation with the village, Lisle Park District, Lisle Police Department, Lisle Convention and Visitors Bureau, Eyes to the Skies Committee, Community School District 202 and Ross Bishop VFW Post #5696.
