Despite a few setbacks, including and a loss of power due to last week’s storms, it seems as if Park District preschool students could occupy the new facility beginning in September.
According to a memo issued by director of parks and recreation Dan Garvy, workers are on an “aggressive schedule” throughout August,  which included additional on-site workers, and plan to conduct building inspections the last week of August. Should the contractors need to continue work on the administrative protion of the building while preschool is in session, they’ll construct a temporary fire separation wall for safety.
During the meeting Garvy said the park district would utilize furniture currently used at the Meadows Center for the preschool classrooms. These items will be placed on a six-year rotation.
Commissioners will meet with the project’s architects at the August regular meeting

Cyclists and walkers, take heed: Commissioners awarded a $45,000 contract to Mokena’s Denler, Inc. to perform maintenance on walking paths in the following parks: Aspen, Breckenridge, Coach House, Community Park, College Road, Green Trails, Oak Hill and Oak Hill South, Sun Valley and Tanglewood. According to Garvy, this work could begin early this fall.
