Milton Township Trustee Steps Down

A Glen Ellyn resident and township trustee resigned after an ethics complaint against another township employee was dismissed.

 

Milton Township Trustee Chris Edwards has resigned from his post.  

The news comes after a heated Milton Township meeting last week where trustees of an employee who was rumored to be using a government-issued phone to do campaign work. Due to a "lack of probable cause," the Ethics Commission decided not to pursue the case.

Shortly after Tuesday's meeting, Chris Edwards sent a letter of resignation to his colleagues on the board.  

"My decision to resign was not easy, but I believe it is best for me and my family at this time," Edwards writes in the letter, obtained by Patch.

Edwards confirmed he was resigning in a phone call but did not comment further.
