Get More Information on the Municipal Electrical Aggregation Referendum

One referendum question will appear on Lisle residents' March 20 primary ballot.

from the Village of Lisle

At the March 20 Primary Election, Lisle residents will have the opportunity to vote on a referendum question which would allow the to procure electricity supply for all residents and small businesses. This action would effectively allow the Village to contract with a supplier other than ComEd to provide electricity to the community. Village officials note that residents would experience no visible change to the way they receive electricity now. The delivery, maintenance of service, and billing of electric service would all continue to be administered by ComEd.

Recent legislation has allowed communities to bid this service as a means of providing competitive electric prices. Mayor Joe Broda states, “The Village can guarantee through the purchase agreement process that our residents will never pay a higher rate than what is being charged by ComEd. But we can’t predict the amount of savings in future years as ComEd enters into new electric supply contracts and re-structures its pricing.” “Bottom line”, said Broda, “residents can feel secure that they will not end up paying more for electricity than they would with ComEd.”

Village officials urge residents to educate themselves on their options by reviewing the Village’s website and to call Village Hall with any questions. Previous information was provided in the Village’s winter newsletter, the e-Notify program, and Cable TV.
