1925 Ohio St. Preschool Likely for Fall

Park District staff provided an update of the new preschool and community center's renovations at Thursday's meeting.

After taking a time-out from renovations to address an , contractors are back at work to complete the Park District's .

Staff memos for Thursday's meeting indicated they were pressing contractors to pursue work on the preschool portion of the facility, secure a partial occupancy permit and begin classes at the site at the commencement of the 2012-2013 school year.

Director of parks and recreation Dan Garvy told commissioners while it's still too early to give a firm commitment, the project as a whole could potentially be finished by the end of September.

A partial occupancy permit hasn't been issued yet.

The work isn't expected to incur additional costs, and he said that the presence of architects and superintendent of parks Aaron Cerutti on-site most days will further insure the quality of the work.

According to Garvy, Park District staff has been instructed not to provide comment to Patch reporters because of the Park District's unhappiness with anonymous negative comments about the Park District posted on Patch by readers.
