Train Strikes Pedestrian Near Glen Ellyn Metra Station

While Metra confirmed that a Pacific Union West train struck a pedestrian today, officials were unable to provide specifics on the victim's condition.

An outbound Metra train struck a pedestrian near Glen Ellyn’s Metra Station around 1:30 p.m. on Monday, according to Metra spokesperson Tom Miller. Glen Ellyn Police officers are on the scene.

Commuters were given little information on the incident. Passenger Jackie Delane said the train, headed toward West Chicago, "kind of stopped abruptly."

At the scene, what appears to be a tennis shoe sits on the south side of the tracks. Emergency officials set up a tent to the east of the Metra station. No details are available on the condition of the individual who was struck; however, some commuters say the victim was female.

Inbound and outbound trains are delayed; the duration of the delays are unknown at this time.

The incident is near Glenbard West High School, near the intersection of Crescent and Park boulevards.
