DOWNERS GROVE, March 9—At 2:16 p.m. Nicholas J. Cary, 18, of Aurora was charged with retail theft after allegedly taking four packages of diapers valued at $80 from Jewel-Osco, 1148 Ogden Ave.

DOWNERS GROVE, March 9—A guest at the Comfort Inn, 3010 Finley Rd., reported $200 missing from her room. Police said the guest hid the money inside a drawer in the room at 3 p.m. March 7 and discovered it missing at noon March 9. The guest reported she spoke with management about the incident, but wanted it documented by police.

LA GRANGE, March 8—A La Grange Post Office employee told police she suspects that during her work shift a homeless person stayed inside her car in the parking lot at 121 W. Hillgrove Ave. Her suspicions were based on a foul odor inside the vehicle and because the seat had been moved. The car lock malfunctions, La Grange police learned.

About a Million Suspects

HINSDALE, March 7—Police received a report of a woman driving away from the Mobil gas station, 8 W. Chicago, shortly before 6 p.m. without paying for $39.01 worth of gas. She was described as a white female, approximately 40, driving a silver vehicle.

What Will Security Think if Your Pants Start to Clink?

ST. CHARLES, March 5—A Geneva man was charged with retail theft and underage drinking after allegedly trying to hide three bottles of liquor in his pants. Adam Francies Jarka, 18, of 118 School St., was arrested at Meijer after he was allegedly seen attempting to conceal a bottle of Grey Goose Vodka, a bottle of Three Olives Vodka and a bottle of Hpnotiq Liqueur, according to the police report. Jarka  told police that he had consumed four or five shots of Smirnoff Raspberry Vodka prior to the alleged theft. A test resulted in a blood-alcohol level of 0.129.

A Faux Pas, in the Raw

LA GRANGE, March 5—Police found a 25-year-old Carterville, IL, man living in a garage that had been converted into an apartment in the 1000 block of south LaGrange Road after a neighbor reported seeing a naked man walking outside there at about 3:13 a.m. The neighbor said a completely naked man had walked to a trash container, vomited, returned to the garage and entered it. Police were to contact the La Grange Building Department because the converted apartment did not have a bathroom.

HINSDALE, March 4—A man told police he parked his vehicle on the 5500 block of Madison and sometime between 7 a.m. March 4 and 7:30 a.m. March 6 someone siphoned 18 gallons of gasoline from his tank, with a value of $65.

Why Video Games were Invented

LA GRANGE, March 3— Somebody reported two boys throwing rocks at each other near Spring and Burlington avenues at about 5:30 p.m. and was worried the projectiles might hit a vehicle or break a window. An officer found two boys, ages 15 and 10, who said they were throwing small rocks at each other. They were warned and sent on their way.

GLEN ELLYN, Feb. 28—Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Windemere Drive.  A resident said between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. somebody damaged the door to one of the dryers in the basement of the building.

New Key Calls for New Locks

ELMHURST, Feb. 24—A woman on the 400 block of May Street reported she found a new key laying on her driveway at 4:22 p.m. She tried the key in her front door lock, and it fit, but she told police it was not her key. Nothing was disturbed in the house and police have no suspects.

Don't Borrow a Cup of Sugar

ELMHURST, Feb. 21—The Elmhurst Zoning Department has deemed a home on First Street uninhabitable after police were called there on a report of a suicidal subject. At 7:29 a.m., witnesses said a woman was in the street screaming that her son was going to hurt her and himself, and that he was having a mental breakdown. Police located the 23-year-old man inside the unit, which contained mold, maggots, flies and feces throughout. The man was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
