No one was hurt, but the garage, a car inside and a nearby house were damaged, the report stated, adding that the fire was extinguished in 10 to 15 minutes.

Firefighters used "snout-sized" oxygen masks the Tinley Park Fire Department bought 10 years ago to resuscitate the dogs, the report stated.

NICE!!..there are oxygen mask's for pet's...and is anyone wondering about 2 pitbull's in a garage..hope the garage is heated and hope they are taken care of..but why have dog's if you have to keep them in a garage I am not judging maybe the owner's ran out for a momemnt and at least they were not out in the yard alone..and another thought maybe neighbor's or someone don't like the dog's!! (just my thought's-don't mean any harm)...

I agree Jacke, could be a logical reason BUT if these dogs are their pets they should be in the house!

just wondering arent pit bulls dangerous dogs. the kind that attack you when you least expect it?. i know some cities band those type of dogs.

Mr. Joe that is a stereotype, it is all about how the dog is raised. We have two pits who our children, 8, 6 and 1 climb on, get dog kisses and sleep with our kids. They are probably the most loyal and sweetest dog we have ever had in the family. My child was attacked by a lab a few years back that are supposed to be "great family pets" but the owners did not care for him, they abused him and this is what leads to mean animals! Our one pit we rescued as a 7 month old pup from a pit home that was breeding dogs to fight, she was never out of a cage. She is the absolute sweetest dog!! She has hip problems from being kept in the cage the first 7 months of her life but has never growled, bit or attacked anyone. Unless you consider too many puppy dog kisses attacking! We love our pits and support the continuing education on the breed!!! Bad owners make bad pets, in almost all cases, there are those few of all breeds that attack for no rhyme or reason but don't stereotype these amazing dogs! Hopefully The Patch will get some photos of these brave pits that TPFD saved! And yes, I do wonder, why are they in a closed garage.....Hmmm. Hope it was either a heated garage, was anyone home in the house that had the garage fire?
