Police: St. Patrick's Day Crackdown Results in 3 DUIs, 7 Other Arrests

The Lisle Police Department reported Wednesday the results of their state-funded "crackdown" on drunk driving around St. Patrick's Day.

Lisle police charged three people with driving under the influence of alcohol, and made seven other "significant arrests" during an increased enforcement period earlier this month around St. Patrick's Day, officers said.

Similar "crackdown" campaigns around St. Patrick's Day were observed statewide by other Illinois and local law enforcement branches.

"The campaign featured high-visibility enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities, which included a strategic media campaign as well as additional enforcement activity," the Lisle Police Department said in a news release Wednesday. "Extra emphasis was given to late-night hours, as statistics show the highest number of motorists drink and drive and the fewest motorists buckle up during this time of day."
