Man Sought for Lisle Home Invasion Arrested in Romeoville

The man was traced to Romeoville after breaking into his ex-girlfriend's apartment and threatening suicide, police said.

have not released the name of the suspect, who they say entered his ex-girlfriend’s apartment in the 4300 block of Azalea Lane at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. 

According to a press release, the victim told police the man entered her apartment in the Arboretum Villages complex armed with a handgun and threatened to commit suicide. Lisle police said the woman was able to get the man out of her apartment, and he left the area in his vehicle.

Lisle police contacted authorities in Romeoville after the man’s cell phone was traced to an area near Route 53 and Honeytree Drive.

Romeoville Sgt. Robert Fetzer said police were notified that the suspect was believed to be in Romeoville shortly after 11 a.m.

“We finally tracked him down in an open field behind the old Ace Hardware,” Fetzer said.

Because the man was believed to be armed, several other agencies were called to assist, Fetzer said. Officers responded from Bolingbrook, the Will County Forest Preserve District, Will County Sheriff’s Police, Woodridge and Lemont, police said.

Fetzer said the man was taken into custody without incident at 12:28 p.m. and transported to the Lisle Police Department.

Lisle police said the investigation into the incident is continuing. As of Sunday afternoon, no charges had been filed against the man.
